A great fun day out in Leicester!
Highlights of the day were talkng with Dr Who people: Sophie Aldred (Doctor's companion Ace), Annette Badland (Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen, or "Blon" / Margaret Blaine), Jon Davey (Dalek operator and Cyberman), Dirk Maggs (writer, director, audio movie pioneer), and taking part in a drawing workshop with Richard Shaun Williams (concept and storyboard artist).
Upon arrival, we were met by Daleks and Cybermen, who were happy to pose for photos. We took our little one in her Dalek costume!
The Cybermen costumes featured a great "stomping" sound effect whenever a step was taken!
These fan-built daleks were as accurate as possible to the real props (apart from the colour of the purple one!). Their owners do a lot of charity fundraising work with them throughout the year.
Fan built Dalek smiles for the video, then exterminates!
Daleks saying cheese in as many ways as possible, until I made the mistake of suggesting Feta, and got exterminated!
Dirk Maggs got to shake one of them by the plunger, and avoided extermination!
With the threat of extermination, National Space Centre employee does as he's told and puts the Rocket Smoke on!
"Are you in charge of the device?? Are you in charge of the device??? - Turn it on NOWWW..."
"OBEY... OBEYYY... OOBEYYYY...!"
I guess I'd sum the Paradigm Dalek up like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it...
Unfortunately I'm not a fan of the new shape Daleks overall. I like certain features (eye stalk, neck rings) but it's hunch-backed side profile, over sized gun and shoulders gives it little elegance.
Very impressive cyberman replicas on display by the 15th Cyber Legion and others.
A superb replica of a gold New Series Dalek (NSD).
Operated expertly by a fairly young lad through the day, the Red Emperor Dalek barked out orders at the other Daleks, and really gave the place some atmosphere!
Probably one of the most accurate replica Davros' out there... The owner gained access to the original prop's skirt to take measurments. The latex mask was cast from a plastercast of the original BBC plug, and all switches are original 1970's vintage.
It was remote controlled, and also spoke several pre-recorded speech clips.. A most impressive project, and stunning result.
Led by the Red Dalek Emperor, the Daleks tried to gain access to the TARDIS, which provided some entertainment!

This Weeping Angel was a very clever machine.... It would stay still, but every 30 secons or so would jump forward, scaring the life out of anyone who was looking!!
This TARDIS was a great creation. It featured the Humming noise, which left the front doors vibrating!
